PALOMINO COLOMBIA
Palomino is a little piece of paradise, located on Colombia’s Caribbean coastline, a 1.5-hour drive west from Santa Marta. At first, it’s just another village by the sea, but when you look closer, you’ll discover one of Columbia’s most perfect beaches, with white sand and blue water on one side and the high, white peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains on the other. No wonder the locals guard this mysterious heaven. If you’re going to visit this amazing place.
The Rio
Palomino (Palomino river) divides the Colombian regions of Magdalena and La
Guajira and Palomino itself sits just on the edge of the La Guajira side.
As
these regions are situated in the north of Colombia, the rugged, untouched
beaches are made up of volcanic sand, coconut trees and bamboo shacks, met
by an alluring, aqua coloured ocean, otherwise known as the Caribbean Sea.
If you’d like to get a little taste of the
tropical rainforest, together with the refreshing water of a mountain spring,
you should definitely head to Quedraba Valencia. This beautiful, though
secluded place gives you an opportunity to relax, spend time in the fresh air
and have fun, swimming in crystal clear water, among stunning waterfalls. Take
pictures, have a picnic, or go for a hike, the place has numerous of options
for spending a fun day outside.
The hike to the pool takes about 20 minutes
and the grade is moderate. If a 20-minute hike is not enough for you, continue
the hike past the pool, to get to another waterfall. It’s about a 30-minute
drive from Palomino, to the trailhead.
